Everything happens on your booking page — the link in your confirmation email and SMS. If anything isn’t right, don’t tow — call 1300 418 285.

Verify your ID — first hire only

  • During your first booking you’ll be prompted to verify your driver licence. It takes about 60 seconds, and you never need to do it again.
  • Verification not working, or you only have a digital licence? Verify manually at verify.empiretrailerhire.com/start.

Start your hire & get your code

  • When your hire is ready, open your booking page and tap Start Booking.
  • Answer the quick pre-hire questions.
  • Your trailer number, pickup address and access code are then shown on screen.
We never send access codes by email. Your code only appears on your booking page after you answer the questions — that’s how we know it’s you at the trailer.

Unlock your trailer

  • At the site, find your assigned trailer number.
  • The key box is usually on the passenger side; on some car trailers it’s under the winch. See how to find your key box.
  • Enter your access code, take the key, unlock the trailer.

Hitch up & check

  • Couple up, cross the chains, plug in the lights — the attaching guide walks you through it step by step.
  • Complete your Hire Condition Report before towing.
  • Quick final check: indicators, brake lights, tyres, jockey wheel up and stowed.

Return & complete your hire

  • Bring the trailer back clean and tidy — no rubbish or personal items.
  • Lock the trailer and put the key back in the key box with the same code.
  • On your booking page, tap Return Trailer, answer the questions and upload the photos.
Your hire isn’t finished until the return is completed. If you skip this step, the booking stays open and additional charges can apply. Two minutes now saves you money.
