Elecbrakes: the short version
Electric brakes, controlled from your phone. Six steps, first time takes about 5 minutes — after that it’s automatic.
TL;DR — the whole thing
- Headlights fully ON Not Auto, not DRL — that’s what powers the brakes
- Download the Elecbrakes app
- Open the app & follow the prompts to connect to your trailer
- First time only: press & release the brake pedal when the app tells you
- Pick your program: Unloaded 40 or Loaded 60–80
- Press the brake — circle turns red — away you go
1 · Headlights fully ON
AUTO ❌ won’t power the brakes
ON ✅ use this
The brakes get power through your taillight cable, and that cable is only live when your headlights are switched fully ON. If the brakes ever seem dead, this is the reason 9 times out of 10.
2 · Get the app
3 · Connect to your trailer
Plug in your 7-pin, headlights ON, open the app — then it depends on which black box is on your trailer:
EB2 — has the tap logo
- Hold your phone to the Elecbrakes logo on the box, tap Connect when prompted.
- No prompt? Tap Cancel → Add Manually and pick your EB2 from the list.
ELBC2000 — older black box
- No tapping — just stand near the trailer and tap your controller in the app’s device list.
- Only one phone can connect at a time.
4 · First time? The pedal check
- Sit in the driver’s seat. The app will ask you to press and release the brake pedal in a pattern, with a countdown for each move.
- Keep your foot where it says until each countdown finishes. Green tick = done. Tap Pair if Bluetooth asks.
- You only ever do this once per phone, per trailer.
- If the app asks for a quick calibration drive: drive straight, brake gently 2–3 times, wait for “Calibration Complete.”
Failed?
Headlights still fully ON, press the pedal firmly all the way down, tap Try Again.
5 · Set your brakes
In the app: Settings → Select Program, pick your load, tap Home. Swap any time you load or unload — takes 5 seconds.

Loaded trailer = Loaded program.
Never tow a full trailer on the Unloaded numbers. After loading, test at 40–50 km/h somewhere safe — you want smooth, even stops.
6 · Check & go
- Press your brake pedal — the app circle turns red. That means the trailer brakes are working. Blue = connected and ready.
- Want certainty? Open the Data tab: Tail light and Brake light both green at 10V+ = safe to tow.
