Set Up Your
Elecbrakes EB2
Download the app first, then follow the four steps below. That's all you need.
Your Elecbrakes gets power through the taillight cable. That cable only works when your headlights are fully switched ON — not Auto, not DRL.
These settings often don't turn on the taillight cable at all. Your brakes might not get any power.
Which controller is on your trailer? Tap to see your steps.
Hold your phone near the logo on the black box. When the NFC prompt pops up, tap Connect.
- Headlights ON. 7-pin trailer plug connected to your car.
- Open the Elecbrakes app. Hold your phone to the EB2 logo and tap Connect when prompted.
- No prompt? Tap Cancel → Add Manually and pick your EB2 from the list.
- Press your brake pedal. The app circle turns red. That means it's working. ✅
No tapping needed. Just open the app while standing near the controller and it will find it automatically.

- Open the Elecbrakes app. Your controller will appear in the device list — tap it to connect.
- Press your brake pedal. The app circle turns red. That means it's working. ✅
If another phone is already connected it won't let you in. Ask your passenger to disconnect theirs first.
It only takes a minute. Drive slowly down a straight road and brake a couple of times. The app will tell you when it's done.
- Drive slowly in a straight line down your street
- Brake gently 2–3 times
- Wait for the app to say "Calibration Complete"
After calibration the system keeps learning and getting better every time you drive. You won't need to do this step again.
Before you drive anywhere, do this quick check. It takes less than a minute and tells you the brakes are getting power.
- Headlights manual ON → Tail light goes green
- Press the brake pedal all the way down → Brake light goes green
- Both green and showing 10V+? You're good to go.
If either one doesn't go green, check your connections before driving anywhere.
You're ready to go!
That's all you need for a normal trip. The brakes will take care of themselves from here.
Test at 40–50 km/h in a safe area and adjust in small steps. You're looking for smooth, even stops — no jerking, no lagging.
Connected and ready. All good.
Trailer brakes are active right now
Tap the circle to apply trailer brakes without pressing your car's brakes. Use +/ – to change strength. Tap again to turn off. Only ever use this at low speed for a quick test.
It's only for quick testing at low speed in a straight line. Leaving it on while driving will damage the trailer brakes.
Sway is when your trailer starts swinging side to side at highway speed. SwayControl detects this and brakes the trailer automatically to pull it straight. You don't need to do anything — it works on its own.
